Photojournalism can be simple. It is the process of accurately documenting human itneraction with its surroundings. Yet to produce a great image, a photographer must show their emotion within the photograph.
As important as it is to withdraw yourself from the event you are covering, it is as important not to withdraw the emotion you feel. It is important to fill the frame with the photographer's ethos and with what is in front of the camera. If this is done, it would be possible to produce an emotional image that is both captivating and original.
It is the reciprocal process of the interaction between the emotion of the event, the photographer's ethos, and the use of the tools at hand, that is the formula to produce a great image. An image which is truly yours because of what you experienced as well.
As Henri Cartier-Bresson said, "A balance must be established between these two worlds, the one inside us and the one outside us. As a result, both these worlds come to form a single one. And it is this world that we must communicate." This is my pursuit as a photojournalist.
